Little Grey and Little White’s mental health and physical well-being is our top priority. The onsite animal care team members interact with the whales every day and are supported by a team of veterinary and welfare specialists.
Reintroducing Little Grey and Little White to a more natural environment involves helping the whales to acclimatise to their new surroundings, adapt to change and maintain husbandry behaviours to allow our animal care team to monitor their health and welfare in the sea sanctuary.
After observing the two belugas´interactions in the sea sanctuary over a four month period in 2020, and then again in the Summer of 2023, the animal care team continues to work to help Little Grey and Little White adapt to new changes through enrichment and training. The current bay sanctuary facility upgrades will allow for future acclimatisation at each whale's individual pace.
