COVID 19 Updated Hours: Our Visitor Centre is Currently Closed from March 18 through April 8, 2020.

 After careful consideration of local conditions, we have decided to temporarily close the Visitor Centre of the SEA LIFE TRUST Beluga Whale Sanctuary from March 18 through April 8, 2020.  The health and welfare of our staff, guests and our closely-knit community are our top priority. During this temporary closure our dedicated team will continue to provide the best possible care for the belugas, puffins and other animals in our Sanctuary. We thank you for your support and patience, and will post an updates regarding reopening on our website and social media.

Hours:

Regularly Scheduled Visitor Centre  Daily Hours:

10:00h to 17:00h from 13 April to 31 October

13:00h to 16:00h from 1 November to 12 April

Bay Trips

In Spring 2020 we will be offering boat trips to the view the bay from a discreet distance.

The boat trips last approximately 30 minutes and run at set times throughout the day.

 

Getting Here:

Our Sanctuary is located on the beautiful island of Heimaey in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago off the south coast of Iceland

Direct flights from Reykjavik through Eagle Air . Journey time approx. 30 minutes

Herjolfur Ferry for people and/or vehicles from Landeyjahöfn to Vestmannaeyjar. Journey time approx. 35 minutes

For those arriving via Cruise ship, our Visitor Centre is a 5-10 minute walk from the harbour terminal on level ground.
